Civil Rights History Walking Tour
Discover the stories and the people who carved civil rights into the fabric of Huntsville, Alabama. Stand in the shadows and walk in the footsteps of civil rights foot soldiers who effected change. Hear the untold stories and uncover the unsung heroes within the African American community of Downtown Huntsville.
This is a walking tour. Distance is 1.5 miles one way. This distance does not include return to vehicles.
Meet Up Location: 100 St. Clair (near Huntsville Hospital Emergency Room)
End Point Location: 700 Monroe (Rhythm on Monroe) Tour Map
Date/Time: Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays after 5 p.m. Weekends after 4 p.m.
Duration: 1 Hour
Suggested Parking: 300 St. Clair parking garage (near Publix at Twickenham Square)
Appropriate clothing for experience:
- It is imperative to wear comfortable shoes
- Stay weather aware. Layer and dress appropriately. Experiences will be rescheduled during times of severe weather
Restrictions: This experience includes stairs, steps, inclines, gravel roadways, unpaved streets, uneven surface. Minimum of 2 guests for tour.
