This first month of 2023 has proven to be a busy one for us here at Touronimo! We’ve seen proposal after proposal flying out the door and contract after contract returning. As we put our heads together to create strategies, plans and experiences for our clients we considered, “This might be the perfect way to explain what it is we do.”
What is a destination management company?
Here’s the simple explanation from everyone’s friends over at Wikipedia (check out that Huntsville connection): “A destination management company is a professional services company with local knowledge, expertise and resources, working in the design and implementation of events, activities, tours, transportation and program logistics.”
Although this may be a new idea in Huntsville (we’re the area’s first), it certainly is not a new concept in the delivery of hospitality services. Large metropolitan destinations often have destination management companies available to assist in the logistics of incoming events and to manage the service reputation for the cities in which they operate. This is what we do for our beloved Rocket City!
We work with hoteliers, Huntsville International Airport, event venues, restaurants, bus & car service companies and the Huntsville/Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau to assist in providing services to meetings and events that are hosted locally by those already based here or visiting from elsewhere.
What did we propose this past month?
TRANSPORTATION
Whether we were assisting a local corporation in providing airport transfer for a single executive or planning motor coaches to transport hundreds of VIP convention attendees, transportation was and is a big request this month and every month. Thinking about how to move people from one incredible Huntsville location to another? We do that.
CATERED EVENTS
It’s been a creative and fun few weeks for our team when it comes to imagining new ways to show off some of our best Huntsville sites and spaces. If you’re looking for the same old “banquet hall rubber chicken events” we may not be for you! However, if you want an experiential, custom, unique and once-in-a-lifetime event people will be talking about for years to come (without breaking your budget), you’ve come to the right place! We’ve assisted with venue selection, event decor, theme development, sponsorship opportunity creation and menu curation all within this past month.
HUNTSVILLE WELCOMING ACTIVITIES
When you have guests over to your house, you want them to feel welcome, right? Why would you not do the same when welcoming guests to your community? We have worked with our clients to assess the touchpoints at which their customers, attendees, delegates and well…guests, will interact with Huntsville while here. Then we helped them develop strategies for informing local partners, creating signage and/or activities that extend the warmest welcome and lasting impression possible.

Hosting your next big client in town? Making the arrangements for that incoming big boss or dignitary? What about that famous Keynote Speaker? We have planned executive airport pickup, personalized community overview packets, spa services, curated tours and experiences, locally-sourced welcome gifts and so much more!
